Startup League at Rise Conference

We are back from the vertical and lively city of Hong Kong. The RISE Conference was a phenomenal success and we couldn’t be happier! The event, operated by the Web Summit, saw a huge turnout of people from all business sectors. We personally met with over 400 people from across the southeast Asian startup community.

The three-day mega conference held from 11th to 13th July saw 580 startups, 400 investors, 565 journalists and 240 speakers sprawled across the Hong Kong exhibition and convention center. Hearing from the leaders of Alibaba Group, Stripe, WeChat, Google and Gary Vaynerchuk (American serial entrepreneur and four-time New York Times bestselling author) made the conference an absolute treat!

As with all Web Summit events, the day exhibitions were followed by a casual night summit. Startups flocked to Lan Kwai Fong to blow off steam and casually network with others as LKF provided the perfect setting with its infamous party hubs and street dining.

Some of the startups sponsored at RISE Conference switched from their original domain to a Radix domain. For instance, Sunami.tech, moved from smssunami.com because it was long, complicated and confusing; and boutir.store, moved from boutir.com because .STORE was more relevant to its mCommerce platform for SMEs.

Our partners, WHub, StartupsHK and EntrepreneurHK helped us spread the word within the startup community about the Startup League offering free ALPHA stands at RISE Conference.  More than 100 startups had applied to the Startup League to get access to 100% sponsorship for the ALPHA booth, along with branded marketing goodies and PR support at the event. The 11 selected startups were chosen jointly by the teams from the Startup League and RISE Conference. These startups made for a diverse mix of innovative businesses from different geographies like India, Hong Kong, Singapore and Luxembourg. Boutir.STORE, an mCommerce startup from Hong Kong, not only received a 100% sponsorship but also got to participate in the PITCH competition and made it all the way to the semi-finals!

The Startup League is now gearing up for the Web Summit (Portugal), TechCrunch Disrupt (USA), TechSparks (India) and SLUSH (Finland) for supporting more startups exhibiting at these events.  If you wish to exhibit at these events and desire support, connect with us right away at [email protected].
